Andy Warhol #03

I had the most amazing assignment very early in my career for Decoration Internationale, a French interiors magazine. The editor in Chief was the most stylish visionary- Marie-Paul Pelle. It was one camera, one lens, B/W film and a schedule full of incredible shootings I did all alone. From John Loring who was head of Tiffany to the great designer Andre Putman to Paloma Picasso to Alexander Liberman to Andy Warhol. For Warhol, I showed up at the factory on 47th St. I remember a lot of aluminum foil on the walls. I was introduced to Andy and we did this totally alone. Andy did not talk to me even though we both come from Pittsburgh.. I didn't really know what to say to him. I should have talked about our shared place of birth maybe. I don't think we had any mutual friends. I remember going to this pretty nondescript place to shoot. Andy goes into the bathroom, leaves the door open then leans up on the sink and carefully "grooms" his nose hairs and his wig. Then he is ready. I take this shot and some by a window. It didn't occur to me he was wearing a wig. Didn't occur to me that all these years later I would find this yellow folder with this shooting I had long forgotten about.
