I spent the afternoon with Duane Michals in NYC. For over two hours he showed me his short films. Some so deeply felt they were like a raw diet of secrets only Duane shares. Some so dreamy. Some hilarious. All beautiful and poignant gifts from a restless artist at 85 buzzing with life. It was an incredibly generous afternoon - capped with a picture I got to direct of our heads touching - and the sendoff of "Hope I get to see you before I die." He was playing the old man card. It will take a lot more than death to slow him down. "I was there. I saw this. I felt this. I heard this. It happened.”
